We are committed to protecting the privacy of users of our mobile application, ShokApp.

1. Introduction

We ("we," "us," or "our") are committed to protecting the privacy of users of our mobile application, ShokApp ("App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App, in compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and App Store requirements.

By downloading or using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

2. Data we collect

2.1 Functional data

We collect only the data that you knowingly provide or that is generated as part of your actions within the App, strictly for functional purposes, including:

  • User inputs and content (e.g., text entries, preferences, settings).
  • In-app activity data (e.g., timestamps of actions, feature usage logs).

2.2 No third-party data sharing

We do not share, sell, or disclose any of your data to third-party advertisers, analytics services, or other external parties.

3. Purpose of processing

We process your data solely to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the App's core functionality.
  • Improve, personalize, and enhance your user experience.
  • Troubleshoot and fix bugs.

4. Legal basis for processing

Under the GDPR, our legal bases for processing your data are:

  • Performance of a contract: to fulfill our commitments under the App's Terms of Service.
  • Legitimate interests: to ensure the App functions as intended and to improve its performance.

5. Data storage, retention, and deletion

5.1 Storage location

All data is stored securely on our private servers, housed in EU-based data centres with appropriate technical and organizational safeguards.

5.2 Account deletion & data retention

  • Upon deleting your account, we retain your personal data for 14 days to allow for account restoration if you change your mind.
  • After 14 days, we permanently delete all personal data pertaining to your account.
  • Exception: Content you generated (e.g., comments, posts, notifications) is retained indefinitely to preserve the App's functionality for other users.

6. Your GDPR rights

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  1. Right of access: obtain a copy of the data we hold about you.
  2. Right to rectification: request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  3. Right to erasure: request deletion of your personal data (subject to the 14-day retention period above).
  4. Right to restriction of processing: ask us to limit how we use your data.
  5. Right to data portability: receive your data in a structured, commonly used format.
  6. Right to object: object to our processing of your data under certain circumstances.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at the address in Section 10. We will respond within one month, in accordance with GDPR.

7. Children's privacy

Our App is not directed to children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 18. If you believe we have collected such data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it. See our for more.

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data, including encryption of data in transit, robust access controls on our servers, and regular security assessments to help ensure data integrity and confidentiality.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective Date" at the top. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

Account Deletion

Delete your Shok account and data.

This page explains how to request deletion of your account and personal data for Shok.

1. Delete it yourself, in the app

If you can sign in to the app, this is the fastest way — deletion happens immediately:

  1. Open Shok and sign in.
  2. Go to the Account tab.
  3. Tap Delete account.
  4. Confirm. Your account is deleted right away.

2. Can't access the app?

If you've lost access, uninstalled the app, or never installed it but want a previously created account removed, email support@shok.app from the address linked to your account and ask us to delete it. We'll confirm and process the request without requiring you to log in.

What gets deleted, and when

  • Your personal data — name, email, profile photo, and any other account details — is deleted immediately, not after a delay.
  • Content you generated (e.g., comments, posts) stays visible to preserve the app's functionality for other users, but is re-attributed to a generic "Deleted User" with no link back to you, as described in our .
Child Safety

Child Safety Standards

Shok has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). This page explains our standards, how to report a concern, and how we respond.

1. Shok is an adults-only app

Shok is restricted to users aged 18 and older. Account creation requires entering a birth date, and the app does not allow a date of birth that would indicate the user is under 18. Shok is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly allow minors to hold an account.

2. Zero tolerance for CSAE

We do not permit content or conduct that sexualizes, abuses, or exploits children in any form, including grooming, solicitation, or the sharing of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Accounts and content found to violate this standard are removed, and the responsible accounts are permanently banned.

3. How to report a concern

Every post, comment, and user profile in Shok can be reported directly in the app:

  1. Open the post, comment, or profile you want to report.
  2. Tap the ⋯ menu (or long-press, for conversations) and choose Report.
  3. Select a reason and submit. Our team reviews every report.

If you believe a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. You can also reach us directly at support@shok.app for any child safety concern.

4. How we respond

  • Reported content and accounts are reviewed and, where they violate this policy, removed or banned.
  • We comply with applicable child safety laws and report CSAE to the relevant national and regional authorities (for example NCMEC in the United States) as legally required.
  • We cooperate with law enforcement investigations into child exploitation to the extent required by law.
